I always love a little inspiration in my life especially when it comes to cooking. I have a pinboard in my kitchen and every week, I go through my favorite recipes from magazines, food blogs, etc and pin them! It’s like Pinterest but yeah… with a real pinboard.
Summer oh summer. The sweet sound word of summer always instantly puts me in a good mood because summer = sun = more daylight = more happy people.
So what else reminds me of summer? Hmm… yes, silly me, of course it is all about bronze skin, colorful nail polish and carefree hair! Curious to see what are my beauty picks for summer? Here are my top 5 picks!
1) Origins Brighter By Nature SPF 30 Face Powder
Good complexion is key for summer which means, yes honey, tone down on that foundation. Opt for a sheer powder instead that also acts as skin care. My favorite is definitely Origins Brighter By Nature SPF 30 Face Powder. It provides me a long-lasting finish without caking as I sweat throughout the day. Plus my lazy self loves the infused SPF 30. Still like a creamy formula? Try BB creams! What are BB creams? Google it. It’s an amazing product that hails from Asia!
2) Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain
Lipsticks and lipgloss do not bode well with me during summer. And nothing looks better during summer with a natural looking stained red lip. It’s like you are naturally Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. You know, pouty red lips in Disney movies that are naturally achievable. Well, screw natural beauty. I found lipstain and it works wonders for me. My favorite is definitely Revlon with a lasting power of 8 hours.
3) Josie Maran Bronzing Powder
It is hard to go wrong with bronzers but I tried to avoid shimmery ones because no, I don’t want to look like a 14-year old who just discovered her first bronzer. My choice? Josie Maran Bronzing Powder! It is matte enough to contour my face and be kind enough to give me that temporary illusion as the next Victoria Secret model. Please, just don’t burst my bubble. I’m still dreaming as I dust my bronzer on my face right now.
4) Boscia Clear Complexion Moisturizer
Summer beauty should be about natural beauty! Yeah right, didn’t I just dissed natural beauty earlier? Oh well. You still want to be as natural as possible which means you should take care of your skin. Yes, pleeease oh please take care of your skin. Why wouldn’t you? It is, after all, the largest organ of your body! To keep acne at bay, I use Boscia Clear Complexion Moisturizer to keep my skin smooth and clear. And if you want to do the whole shebang, I bought the whole Clear Complexion set. Love it.
5) Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black
I try to keep eyeshadows to the minimal during summer. I’m not down for creased and smeared green shadow on my lids. My favorite makeup trick, a cat-eyed look using Bobbi Brown Gel Liner. It still gives you the flirtatious look without a punch in your eye. Pair that with a red stained lips, you are all bea-yoo-ti-ful!
So skip the heavy makeup and let your natural beauty shine!
Tell me, what are you favorite beauty products for the summer? Lord knows I really do need more beauty products. 🙂
Have a great day my lovelies!
So when it comes to cooking, I pretty much get flustered all the time. I stand at my kitchen pantry and stare into it for a very long time. Yes, I stare long and hard before I find my cellphone and call for Chinese. I used to be an incorrigible piece of soul in the kitchen. My mother gave up on me and so did the Kitchen God. But after being married to a man who is pretty much hungry all the time ( not to mention, his crazy metabolism), I had to cook because eating out all the time was no longer an option on our wallet. So here’s to all you lazy girls out there, this pasta is easy as 1-2-3. I swear to God, if you can’t make this, you are..umm.. just drink lots of coffee to stay full. Have fun! 🙂
What you need…
A jar of marinated sun-dried tomatoes
A jar of marinated artichokes
A bag of your favorite pasta
1 tsp of smoky paprika
1 tsp of Rosemary Leaves, Basil and Oregano
1 can of sweet corn
Here’s how you cook it:
1) Cook pasta over boiling water until soften. Drain and rinse.
2) In a separate large pan, melt butter. Mix in sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and 1 tsp of smokey paprika. Stir well.
3) Mix in cooked pasta. Add 1 tsp of basil, oregano and rosemary leaves. Add a can of sweet corn. (It’s important you mix in sweet corn last as heat will caramelized the corn).
4) Add salt and pepper to taste.
Seriously, that’s it. Now enjoy and let me know how it turns out for you!
